↠ Reserve: http://sinfulmods.dreamwidth.org/2145.html?thread=223841#cmt223841

↠ Age: 23

↠ Appearance:

Buffy is short, standing at a petite 5'3" that has gotten her hundreds of dubious glances when revealing her identity. It doesn't help that she's also tiny, with bright green eyes and long blonde hair, the typical image of a California girl. She takes great pride in her appearance, dressing in stylish clothes and doing her hair and makeup to match the outfit - and heaven help the demon who gets goo on her new blouse. There is a bite-mark scar on the left side of her neck, originally from being bitten by the Master, but then later from Angel and Dracula, respectively.

Buffy carries herself with confidence, and her steps are steady and sure, especially now that she's come into her own as the Slayer General. She's strong when she has to be, whether it be in front of her fellow Slayers or facing down a nest of vampires, and her serious face has been known to send the bravest demons running in the opposite direction. When she wants to throw people off, though, she can slip easily into her ditzy blonde valley girl persona, with wide eyes and flirty gestures - it usually works like a charm.

↠ Personality:

Buffy was the typical California valley girl cheerleader in her early high school years, looking down on those of a lower social class and caring about nothing but what to wear to the next dance. That was before she became the Slayer, a destiny that changed her entire life and the person she would become. Becoming the Slayer and leading a secret life as the world's savior from the darkness allowed her to feel the isolation she'd enforced on others, which later let her connect with social outcasts Willow and Xander, who would become her best friends. She's continued to connect with those on the fringes of society, and she'll stand up to bullies on behalf of those who can't.

Buffy is a very unorthodox slayer; she was not trained by the Council to put her destiny before all else, and therefore refuses to give up her normal life. She uses her emotions to help her fight, and has friends who help her save the world, instead of depending on only herself. It is perhaps these differences from the typical slayer that has kept her alive for so long; in truth, she's one of the longest-lived slayers in history. But at the same time, she feels even more alone when she is with them, because none of them will ever understand what it’s like for her. That’s the price of being a Slayer, and it's why, when it comes down to it, she'll follow her own instinct over theirs, up to and including completely disregarding their opinions and feelings to do what she thinks has to be done. It's her job to make the tough choices and it always will be.

Buffy has been very unlucky with the men in her life. Her father took himself out of her life when she was a teenager, Angel left her because their love was ultimately doomed, Parker used her for a one-night stand, Riley couldn't handle her being the Slayer, and Spike... Well, Spike was complicated. Because of this, Buffy doesn't have the best confidence in her own ability to have a decent, healthy relationship, and she's somewhat wary of trusting men with her heart. Or anyone, really.

Buffy no longer feels as close to her friends after the events prior to the battle with the First, when even her sister chose to side against Buffy. She sees it as the ultimate betrayal; they turned their backs on her the moment she failed to be their perfect hero and it will take a lot for her to truly forgive them. This doesn't mean that she won't work with them - with 1,600 new Slayers in the world and 500 under her command, she's needed her veteran friends to help her lead the troops, and she still trusts them to do so, despite everything. But the damage has been done, and it'll take a lot for her to trust anyone as completely as she once did Willow, Xander, and Giles.

↠ Powers / Abilities: As a Slayer, Buffy has supernatural speed, strength, agility, and durability. She also has accelerated healing, heightened awareness of surroundings, and a "spidey-sense" for detecting supernatural creatures, but especially vampires. And there's the occasional (incomprehensible) prophetic dream and magical access to the collective memories of the Slayers. This does not mean that Buffy is invincible - she's died three times, it just doesn't stick very well when her friends are involved. And finally, as a Slayer she has a natural affinity for weapons of all types.

↠ Languages: Native-level English, and just a smattering of a dozen different dead or demonic languages she's picked up over the years (she recognizes the sound or look of these languages more than actual words).

↠ Inventory: A wooden stake.

↠ Reason for Playing This Character: Buffy has been a favorite character of mine for fifteen years now. I love the way she's written, as a walking contradiction of power and femininity, dealing with the same things as normal teenagers and young adults (dating, paying bills, losing family) while struggling to save the world. I enjoy playing Buffy as a character because there is such depth and history to her, and that's especially enjoyable to explore in games like CoS, where she could try to have a somewhat more normal life and finally be more than just the Slayer. It'll be a slightly terrifying prospect for her, but it will also give her time to finally heal from the betrayal of her friends, which she hasn't been able to do in the rush of saving the world and establishing the new Slayer HQ. CoS has been a wonderfully welcoming home for Rogue and I'm really excited to bring Buffy into the fold as well.

↠ What is Your Character's Sin?: Buffy's sin is undoubtedly Pride. Since she was called as a Slayer at age fifteen, she has been repeatedly told the story of being the Chosen One, the one girl in all the world with the strength and skill to hunt vampires and keep darkness at bay. Even when a second slayer is called, Buffy is still The Slayer, the one who is actively averting apocalypses and keeping the Hellmouth from being opened. All of that power and responsibility would go to anyone's head, and it's resulted in Buffy legitimately thinking she's better than everyone else. She admits as much in her impromptu therapy session with vampire Holden in "Conversations with Dead People" -- "They don't know. They haven't been through what I've been through. They're not the slayer. I am. Sometimes I feel- this is awful- I feel like I'm better than them. Superior."

SAMPLES
↠ First Person: VIDEO SAMPLE

[The video feed snaps on before a person comes into view, and there's a flash of long blonde hair as the phone is jostled about.] Oh, crap, is this thing on? [The face that comes into view of that of a young woman who is decidedly not pleased to be in her current predicament.]

Okay, I think this is on. [She squints at the screen, bringing the phone closer so she can peer at the little front-facing camera. Technology isn't her thing, okay?] Maybe.

[A frown, then she puts the phone back at a reasonable distance and plasters on the most innocent and charming smile she can manage.] Anyway. Hi. My name's Buffy, and if whoever kidnapped me and dropped me in this swanky apartment would like to step forward and fess up, I promise to make your death quick and mostly painless. How's that sound?

↠ Third Person:

Being in charge of 500 mini Slayers meant that Buffy didn’t have a lot of free time to enjoy her old pastimes – visiting a club for a night of dancing, taking a midnight stroll through a cemetery, enjoying a nice vampire staking… It didn’t help that the vampires in Scotland never understood her trademark witty banter, and she sure as hell couldn’t understand them with those thick accents. So when she went to visit Vi and check in on the team in New York, she simply couldn’t resist the opportunity to get her slayage on.

It was nice having help in the fight against evil, don’t get her wrong, but sometimes she missed being on her own, calling the shots without worrying about the minis messing up. It certainly hadn’t escaped her notice that the reputation of a Slayer had been going downhill since so many had taken up the title, a point hammered home when her first vampire of the night laughed in her face.

“YOU’RE a slayer?” the wannabe biker vamp managed between fits of laughter. “I’d heard a bunch of little girls were running around calling themselves big bad slayers, but YOU?”

Her jaw dropping in outrage, Buffy put her hands on her hips, a stake firmly gripped in one of them. “Excuse you, but I’m THE Slayer, thanks very much,” she informed him indignantly. “I earned that the.”

“Sure you did,” the vamp allowed, still grinning with mirth beneath his game face. “And what’s your name, slayer? Suzy? Angie? The last one had a doozy of a name, it was—“

“Buffy. My name is Buffy, and I’m The Slayer.”

The smile died on his face as the vampire realized just who was standing in front of him. “You’re in Italy, partying it up with The Immortal.”

“No, I’m not,” she assured him, stalking slowly forward. “But I pity the me who is. And the other one too. Being famous has really lost its perks.”

The vamp lunged at her then, throwing a taunt of all the bragging he’d do about killing the infamous Buffy Summers, but three minutes later he was nothing but a pile of dust. Like all the others.
